Aguardente is a drink of high alcohol level (26 to 40%)
In Portugal, there is the aguardente bagaceira, or bagaço because it's made from the grape marc, and the aguardente vínica, made from wine. The latter, using a process similar to the French Cognac, is often aged using oak barrels, gaining a yellowish colour and a characteristic flavour and aroma becoming Aguardente Velha.
Cold winter days and a comfortable sofa (or maybe a cigar), is all you need to enjoy an Aguardente Velha.
